VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP AG Wiener Versicherung Gruppe (hereinafter “VIG”) strives to ensure that its digital services are accessible in accordance with the Accessibility Act (BaFG), Federal Law Gazette I No. 76/2023 (German only), implementing Directive (EU) 2019/882 (“European Accessibility Act”).

This accessibility statement applies to the group.vig website, including its German and English versions.

Status of compliance with the requirements

Section 5 of the BaFG refers to harmonised standards. For digital services, this is the European Standard EN 301 549, which, in Section 9, refers to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at conformity levels A and AA.

The group.vig website is largely compliant with Conformity Level AA (Double A) of WCAG 2.2 and with the applicable European Standard EN 301 549, subject to the incompatibilities and exceptions listed below.

WACA Certification

The accessibility of group.vig was assessed by the independent certification body WACA (Web Accessibility Certificate Austria). On 18 May 2026, the website was awarded the WACA certificate at Bronze level.

In its report, the certification body states that the pages in the test sample that were assessed are generally well implemented in terms of accessibility, meet most of the success criteria of WCAG 2.2 at Level AA, and show only minimal deviations from the WCAG guidelines. As the core functionalities are fully accessible to all users, the certificate was awarded.

The full audit report can be found at: WACA Certificate Report for VIG Group

Content that is not fully accessible

The content listed below is not fully accessible for the following reasons. This list is based on the findings of the WACA audit.

Non-compliance with accessibility requirements

Page elements (header, menu, footer, cookie banner)

  • In some cases, the `title` attribute is used for copyright information; this is not reliably read out by assistive technologies (WCAG 1.1.1 – Non-text content).
  • In the cookie banner, the ‘Privacy settings’ section can no longer be navigated using the keyboard after navigating back and reopening the page (WCAG 2.1.1 – Keyboard, WCAG 2.1.2 – No keyboard trap).
  • In the cookie banner, the aria-describedby attribute is not used correctly (WCAG 4.1.2 – Name, Role, Value).

The cookie banner is a third-party tool. The elements that the operator can influence have been adjusted; the remaining issues have been forwarded to the third-party provider for correction. Implementation is currently underway.

Blog, Press and Media Library pages

  • In the mobile view, the share links appear visually immediately after the header but are located further down in the source code. Similarly, the order of the toolbar elements in the lightbox differs from the order in the code (WCAG 1.3.2 – Order of Meaning, WCAG 2.4.3 – Focus Order).
  • On the press overview page, words are truncated and horizontal scrolling is required; on press detail pages, horizontal scrolling is possible (WCAG 1.4.10 – Line Breaks).
  • An alternative text does not adequately describe the image content (WCAG 1.1.1 – Non-text Content).
  • On the ‘Press Contact’ page, the contacts are split into several lists of three items each instead of a single continuous list (WCAG 1.3.1 – Information and Relationships).

Career pages (job detail)

  • The active step of the progress bar has insufficient contrast, even in contrast mode (WCAG 1.4.3 – Minimum Contrast).
  • The page title is missing the general part “– Vienna Insurance Group” (WCAG 2.4.2 – Provide a title for the page).
  • English-language job titles are not marked with the language attribute lang="en" (WCAG 3.1.2 – Language of Parts).

The ‘Back to vacancies’ navigation is positioned in an unusual place, and a breadcrumb is missing (WCAG 3.2.3 – Consistent Navigation).

Disproportionate burden

No claim is currently being made that there is a disproportionate burden within the meaning of Section 18 of the BaFG.

Content outside the scope

The following, in particular, fall outside the scope of the BaFG or the audit:

  • PDF and EPUB documents. Some of the PDF documents published on group.vig – in particular older annual reports, sustainability reports and presentations – are not accessible. For new documents, we strive to ensure they comply with WCAG and PDF/UA standards.
  • Live-streamed time-based media.
  • Recorded time-based media published before 28 June 2025, as well as content that is neither revised nor updated after that date (archived content).
  • Content available only to a closed group of people (extranets and intranets).

Third-party content that has neither been funded nor developed by VIG and is not subject to its control is excluded from the scope of application. This applies in particular to:

  • the cookie banner
  • embedded social media channels
  • embedded, interactive charts
  • the embedded share price tool, which contains an empty link

No statement can be made regarding the compliance of this third-party content with accessibility requirements. Where third-party content provides essential information to users, we provide an accessible alternative.

Google reCAPTCHA V3 is used on pages containing forms.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was first drawn up on 24 July 2026.

The website’s compliance with the requirements was assessed through an external audit carried out by the certification body WACA (Web Accessibility Certificate Austria) in accordance with WCAG 2.2 at Conformity Level AA. The Bronze-level certificate was awarded on 18 May 2026.

A representative test sample of 25 pages was assessed. This included the website’s framework (header, menu, footer, cookie banner), the German and English homepages, the search results page, and pages from the Investor Relations, VIG Inside, Careers and Sustainability sections, including overview and detail pages, forms, the media library and two random samples.

Individual page content is regularly checked by the online editorial team when new content is published.

This statement was last updated on 13 August 2026.
