At its meeting on 3 December, Vienna Insurance Group Supervisory Board – based on a proposal of CEO Peter Hagen, in recognition of Juraj Lelkes’ outstanding performance – requested Mr Lelkes, CEO and Chairman of the Managing Board of Kooperativa Slovakia, to advise the Chairman of the Managing Board of VIG on the Group’s future development in Slovakia and particularly in Romania, starting from 1 January 2015. The Supervisory Board accepted the recommendation unanimously.

Günter Geyer, Chairman of Vienna Insurance Group Supervisory Board commented: “Vienna Insurance Group’s sustainable long-term success in Slovakia is a direct result of Juraj Lelkes’ strong leadership and knowledge of the market. He has been the driving force behind our operations in the country. His experience and expertise will continue to play a significant part in the Group’s development in future. I would like to congratulate Mr Lelkes on this latest step in his career and thank him for his willingness to extend his success story beyond Slovakia.

Juraj Lelkes has an excellent track record since he took over at Kooperativa Slovakia in 2003. He achieved a number of landmark successes with Kooperativa during the liberalisation of the Slovakian motor insurance market, gradually increasing the company’s leadership in the segment. VIG is currently the country’s leading motor insurer, with a market share of more than 40 percent. Juraj Lelkes made a significant contribution to this performance.
