Kooperativa receives award as "Insurer of the Year"

  • Top position for Kooperativa for the third successive year
  • 2nd and 3rd places for VIG products in the "Life Insurance of the Year" category

Kooperativa, the leading Vienna Insurance Group company in the Czech Republic, has been voted "Insurer of the Year" for the third year in a row in the insurance category of the "Bank of the Year 2010" competition. The deciding factors for the jury were the company's extensive and diversified portfolio of products, as well as its efficient and nationwide network of sales representatives. With its "Perspektiva 7BN" product, Kooperativa also captured third place in the category "Life Insurance of the Year".
"It is really impressive that Kooperativa has now received this award for the third year in a row. I congratulate our colleagues on the renewed confirmation of their successful corporate and product strategy," comments a pleased Günter Geyer, CEO of the Vienna Insurance Group, before adding, "The high positions in the life insurance category demonstrate that the Vienna Insurance Group is also at the front of the pack in this rapidly expanding product sector." 
The prize ceremony also featured success for another Vienna Insurance Group company, with Petr Zapletal, CEO of Pojišťovna České spořitelny (PČS), being voted "Insurance Manager of the Year" by his peers in a newly established category. PČS also took second place in the "Life Insurance of the Year 2010" category for its "Flexi" product.
Market Leader in the Czech Republic

The Vienna Insurance Group is represented by the Group companies Kooperativa, PČS and ČPP in the Czech Republic and is the leading insurer in this core market. During the first nine months of the year, the group achieved premiums in the Czech Republic amounting to EUR 1.3 billion, a significant increase of 7.6 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. The Group's growth in the life insurance sector was an eye-catching 27.7 percent.

With a share of 20.5 percent, Kooperativa is the number 2 insurer in the Czech market and, in its role as a composite insurer, offers high quality life and non-life insurance solutions. In the first three quarters of 2010, the company registered premiums amounting to approximately EUR 898 million. The company's market share in the motor insurance sector is 25 percent. Kooperativa will soon be expanding its portfolio of products to include legal protection insurance and will continue to grow its motor insurance market share.
