Wolfgang Stockmeyer new CEO of VIG Group company BTA Baltic

Wolfgang Stockmeyer has over two decades of experience in the insurance industry. He has been a member of the BTA Managing Board since October 2016. An insurance expert, he previously worked for the Polish VIG Group companies, most recently as a member of the Compensa Life Managing Board.

“I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Wolfgang Stockmeyer, a specialist with in-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, and in particular the northern CEE region, to head up BTA. The company is especially innovative with modern structures, and has strong growth prospects in the highly significant Baltic market,” explained Franz Fuchs, Member of the Managing Board at VIG and responsible for the Baltic states.

A member of the Vienna Insurance Group since 2016, BTA has become one of the leading insurers on the Baltic market in the space of only a few years. The company is headquartered in Latvia and has branch offices in Lithuania and Estonia. In the third quarter of 2018, BTA reported premium income of EUR 158 million, a sharp increase of around 31 percent year on year.

Besides BTA, VIG is represented in the Baltic states by Group companies Compensa, Compensa Life and Seesam. The Group is the leader in the Baltic countries, with a market share of 20.4 percent.
