More than 50 insurance companies and pension funds in 30 countries form a Group with a long-standing tradition, strong brands and close customer relations. The around 30,000 employees in the VIG take care of the day-to-day needs of around 32 million customers.

From first mover to market leader in CEE
VIG was one of the first European insurance groups to begin expanding into the markets of the CEE region after the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989. Step by step, the Group established itself in new markets and has become the number one in the region. Vienna Insurance Group places an emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe as its home market and pursues a long-term strategy in the markets where it is represented. More than half of the total business volume and profit is generated in this region.

The Vienna Insurance Group is listed in Vienna, Prague and Budapest. Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein – a stable core shareholder with a long-term focus – owns 72% of VIG's shares. The remaining shares are in free float.
