Before my internship at the headquarters of VIG officially began, I received something totally unexpected - a handwritten welcome card from the team where I am doing my internship.

I remember checking the letterbox and seeing an envelope with the company’s name on it. At first, I thought it might be something formal or paperwork-related, but when I opened it, it turned out to be a card welcoming me to the team.

Building personal connections

It was short and simple - just a few kind words saying how excited they were to have me join as a part of the team, but it honestly made a bigger impact than one might realize.

This gesture made the company feel more personal and approachable. Starting something new always comes with a bit of nervous energy - you don’t know what to expect, what the people will be like, or how you’ll fit in. But that card helped ease a lot of nerves.

A sense of company culture

Getting something in the mail that was handwritten and thoughtful really stood out. It felt intentional and kind, and it gave me a sense of the company culture right away.

Now that I’m closer to the end of my internship, it’s something I still think about. That card may have been small, but it really stuck with me throughout the whole experience. It’s a reminder of how much those little gestures can matter - how a few words can go a long way in making someone feel welcomed and supported.

Looking back, that welcome card was the very first sign that I was about to have a great experience here. And I did.
